March is Women’s History Month and March 8th is International Women’s Day. Women's History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society and International Women’s Day is a celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women for their economic, political and social achievements. We will be celebrating Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day here at the ACFJC on March 24th with our Women Celebrating Women Event. This year our theme is Women in Science, Technology and Industry. There will be food, music, her-story, a museum and speakers.
The event is from 11-1pm here at the FJC (470-27th Street in Oakland).
The Alameda County Family Justice Center is a Trauma Recover Center.
We are excited to announce that the Alameda County Family Justice Center is designated as a Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). TRCs consists of a multidisciplinary staff or clinicians including licensed psychiatrists, psychologist and social workers who provide services, including but not limited to, all of the following resources, treatments, and recovery services to crime victims: mental health treatment services; assertive community-based outreach; clinical case management; coordination of care among medical and mental health care providers; and services to family members and loved ones of homicide victims. Through a grant from California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and in Partnership with La Familia Counseling we are thrilled to be offering this service to our ACFJC clients.
